Desks
This
was initially the most urgent need since the children were previously
forced to sit on the floor for their routine class work. There have been
many sponsors to the Desk project, which has been quite a success. At
the moment it has more that 400 desks with over 300 having been
purchased by Mnarani Club guests.
There is however still a desperate need for more desks, many
children still sit on the floor and those lucky enough to have a
desk have to share with two other children

Sponsorship
Since
the inception of the School Fees Sponsorship in 2001, over 350 poor
children have benefited from the sponsorship mainly by guests visiting
the Mnarani Club. Many pupils who had dropped out due to lack of funds
have gone back to school. The sponsorship entails willing individuals
funding for the education of poor children from the village. Payment is yearly and
icovers school fees where appropriate, uniform and books. |

Books
In
Mnarani Primary School, like many other schools in rural Kenya,
providing textbooks is the responsibility of parents, but most cannot
afford them, rendering the work of teachers difficult. Through the
Development Project, a small library with a sitting capacity of 15
pupils was built and completed in September 2001. There is a dire need for books of both course and
storybooks as what is available is not sufficient to cover the whole
curriculum. |
