MNARANI PROJECT REPORT.

Dear Mike Watkins_

Following the recent political crisis everyone was affected in Kenya. Schools in particular were affected:  the majority burnt which led to disruption of lessons for pupils and teachers. However the-, are trying to cope the situation. The government is doing little to cover all expenses. We have also quite a number of families  without homes and are still in rehabilitation centers. The government is doing some fund raising to have the displaced people return back to their farms with a little token. We however do appreciate the government efforts in offering the free primary education despite lack of facilities to accommodate the new influx.

As of now things are calm and slowl_y back to normal and we are hoping the tourist sector will pick up_ as majority of the communities depend on the tourism industry.

It is unfortunate. that the number of visitors in Kenya has dramatically gone down. Since the beginning of the year. This compiled with high fuels and food prices. makes the situation rather grim

The Mnarani school project is still active on and thanks to people like you we have managed to achieve a few goals for the school and children.

Efforts to Raise More Sponsorship

As you know- the Mnarani club is under new management. and our efforts of getting new sponsors through the hotel is now becoming more difficult.

They mainly deal with local visitors who are Usually not generous as overseas visitors due to similar endless demands from their home areas. Due to this we have very few new sponsors for the Mnarala children and most of the Old sponsors  paid once off The number of visitors to the hotel is also very low however. We are still making use of the few visitors from UK to brief them on the project and sponsorship in general.

We would appreciate to have more generous people who would assist us now that we have to rebuild school infrastructure.

Achieved developments

With the help of few active sponsors the project has managed to finalize the following

                            I.      Renovation of book library

                          II.      With help of a sponsor we have installed a computer library

                        III.      School uniforms       .

                        IV.      Feeding program money raised individually and through sports activities e.g. Triathlon

                          V.      Renovation of classroom roofs

We intend to do the following infrastructure and we welcome donors or sponsors to assist us meet our goal­

                            I.      Building two new classrooms

                          II.      Building two new toilets

                        III.      Purchase desks

                        IV.      Construct a perimeter wall/fence

Thank you for your positive gestures towards the Mnarani children and please lets save the child from the poverty trap and give them better education for a better future
